11 Symptoms Of Blocked Arteries

Blocked arteries (Atherosclerosis) are the arteries with build-ups of fibrous and fatty material inside it. The arteries and their underlying conditions cause coronary heart disease and other circulatory diseases.

The disease could be silent for many decades. But once the blockage gets to a certain size, It becomes unable to carry sufficient blood. It causes pain or discomfort to a large extent. A higher level of unhealthy blood cholesterol build-ups in the wall of the arteries narrows it.

High blood pressure, being overweight cause plaque in the arteries. Plaques are the deposit of fat and other substances resulting in narrow arteries. These are the major causes of blocked arteries.

Another major cause is smoking. It increases blood pressure and cholesterol level in the blood. It doesn’t allow enough oxygen to reach the body’s tissues. It can also damage or tightens the blood vessels causing blocked arteries
